Efficient Prudential FoF comment - Dec 05 - Fund Manager Comment24 Jan 2006
The Efficient Prudential Fund of Funds invests in a number of carefully selected, combined and actively managed collective investment schemes. It is a long-term investment vehicle that has a mandate that will allow the unit price to follow a longer term upward trend in asset prices as measured by the ALSI 40. During times of increasing asset prices, the portfolio will employ trading strategies that are designed to protect value.
The key benefit of this investment portfolio is the participation in an actively managed investment product, suitable to discretionary and compulsory investors. The investment strategy (mandate) followed by the investment manager is to protect investors against falling asset prices. The benchmark is the ALSI 40, a JSE Securities Exchange calculated benchmark reflecting the price changes of the 40 largest listed shares. The objective is to follow the benchmark during bull periods in the market, but to outperform it during periods of declining prices.
An important historic characteristic of the fund is the low volatility and good returns which translates to a stable unit price during periods of declining asset prices.
