Fund Objective

The Ninety One Emerging Companies Fund aims to grow capital over the long term. The objective is to achieve returns well in excess of the benchmark, measured over three year periods.

The fund aims to give investors a focused exposure to medium and small cap companies listed on the JSE. The investable universe will typically exclude the JSE top 40 listed shares. Where investments have been made in companies that subsequently enter the FTSE/JSE Top 40 Index, these are retained until circumstances necessitate their disposal (e.g. expensive relative to valuation)....Read more

Management

Andrew Joannou (BBus Science (Honours) (Finance), CFA) Andrew is a portfolio manager in Ninety One's Value team. He is also the portfolio manager for the Investec Emerging Companies Fund. Andrew previously managed the Investec Emerging Companies Fund from 2003 until 2005, before leaving to help found Afena Capital. Andrew was chief investment officer at Afena Capital. He also held the position of Head of Resources and Financials. Andrew has a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Finance and Accounting (with Honours) and is a CFA Charterholder.
