Fawaz Fakier (BCom (Hons), CFA, FRM)
Fawaz is the Lead Portfolio Manager of the Old Mutual ESG equity portfolio and oversees the broader ESG strategy and integration across Customised Solutions. He is primarily responsible for managing portfolios driven by active quantitative strategies across a range of portfolios.
He is a key individual on the Old Mutual Investment Group Artificial Intelligence (AI) committee and acts a champion for AI initiatives both within Customised Solutions and across the broader Investment Group business.
Fawaz's research interests include insights into sustainability investing, factor-based research, converting data into investment insights, portfolio construction techniques and tactical asset allocation.
He has more than seven years of experience in managing portfolios and over 13 years in the investment industry.
Maahir Jakoet (BCom (Hons))
Maahir co-manages the Old Mutual ESG equity portfolio as well as the full suite of Shari'ah portfolios. He is the lead portfolio manager of the Old Mutual Albaraka Income Fund. He has a strong focus on the businesses Shari'ah capability, improving the investment process, and the proactive and professional engagement with clients and service providers.
Maahir attended an Investment Bank internship at JP Morgan Chase. He was also a Quantitative analyst at RisCura prior to joining the Old Mutual Investment Group Portfolio Implementation Team. He holds a B. Com. (Hons) UCT - Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management and is currently an MBA candidate at UCT's Graduate School of Business.
